Nick,

Why MyCarr is the best bet for the price? It's still 3W LED bulb right? Maybe you're talking about the 7000K...so it's light tint of blue/purple? Some others are 6000K so it's more pure white color. If they're all 3W LED bulbs then the real differences between them are the K degree of the bulb and the canceller cable, which prevents the flickerings or light out error message.

Orion version 2 is really different from those 3W LED because they're actually rings of 90 (or so) LEDs. That's why they are so bright. Am I wrong?
You are right that Orion is the brightest, but you have to realize, in order to install Orion, you have to take apart the E60 headlight, which from what Luis said is difficult. As we were referring to plug and play, Mycarr is probably the best for its money compared to all the other plug and play options.

Niqxdoof,

What I meant was...is there anything else to MyCarr to make it better than the other, cheaper, non-brand Chinese made ones? LOL...they are all from Taiwan or China anyway. Other choices are MTec ICE sold by Umnitza for $73.49, member brabusw209amg for $85 shipped, Elite stage 3 for $104.99 shipped, or ebay ones for something like $49.99 or so.

I'm in the market for a set too and I've been doing research. Also, I'm in CA so I'll have to pay tax (9.25%) and even shipping if buying from Umnitza or Nick. So...why is it best bet for the money when it's more expensive ($99+9tax=$108)? If it has something different or definitely brighter than other kits, I'll be happy to drive there and pick up a set from Nick tomorrow. I'm like 10 minutes away from his store.

If Luis can do it, somebody here can do it too . Please post a DIY. I'll try it if there's a step-by-step instruction.
Where can we buy the Orion version 2 LED AE set?

i dont think the issue is about anybody being able to do it. do you want to spent 20+ hours for some angel eyes?

You can get the Orion V2 LED from F1 autohus.

Actually, Orion V2 LED is made by Umnitza but F1Autohaus also sells it too. Interestingly, Umnitza doesn't offer these for our cars E60 according to their website. So Luis (///OSS) must have made some modifications in order for them to work properly.

If you can install them yourself, kudos to you cuz you'll be one of the very few. Here are some threads to drool over...

To answer the OP's question, your basic hyper white bulb or simple aftermarket LED replacement angel eye won't be any brighter when compared to stock - Plain and simple. All you're doing is changing the color of the angel eyes as they become less bright. Most pictures you see taken are overexposed and very misleading.

Below is a realistic shot taken during the afternoon. This is the end result from an aftermarket "upgrade" shown on an E92:

For Luis' custom retrofit, although it's the most expensive option due to the intense procedures involved it's the only brightest solution out there available. (Kyle should be receiving his headlights back tomorrow btw)

Here's a shot taken in DIRECT sunlight and what you see here is what you get. It looks even better in real life:

Now, if you guys want a more affordable solution I can host a Group Buy on the MTEC LED 3W upgrade for only $75 shipped via Priority Mail. Have me a list with a minimum of 5 members and you're good to go

I'd be interested in a set of the MTEC LED 3W, add me to the list. Thanks!

Hell yea I'll do that to save $500 bucks!! LOL. Also I dont think Luis is going to put a DIY for this.. I'm sure he'll lose out on his business from us if we do.. (Maybe).

And I'm sure we can retrofit / figure out how to fit the Angeleyes from orion into our car Electronically. Its just physically hard as hell!

Umnitza will never make an Orion for the e60 because the headlights are sealed. I confirmed this with them. Additionally, Luis clearly is a pro...I can't imagine anyone attempting this on their own. I think he would post a DYI if he thought others could do it...he's that kind of guy and likes to help the community, but I simply don't think one exists that he is comfortable recommneding others to attempt.
