Great job thus far. You've done this before? Using a DIY guide? I remember seeing a thread where a member restored his m172's. Can't wait to see the final product!

Thanks everyone, but me refinishing these wheels is not for the faint of heart. It's a very tough job but at least I know I will finish.

I still have tons of progress to make and I'm slowly chugging along. I'm now on the second rear rim and this one has some curb marks as well. I'm hard at work getting them out. The first rim BY FAR was the worst one. I even wire brushed where the tire mates with the rim just to be sure this rim is refurbed to it's max.

The second rim is almost done. I using 6 sheets of 180 per rim. I have two sheets left and a few more superficial marks in the lip. These marks are barely noticable so if I don't get them 100% out, it'll be okay

Sorry for the late reply. I have some experience in re-polishing aluminum by hand. My last car had some rough aluminum pieces under the hood and one day I just took the plunge and taught myself how to make them bling lol. It's actually very easy. It's just time consuming. Also, before I started, while I was at work one day I search a little online for some DIY's. I was able to find a few good ones.

Here's two good threads I looked at.

Lip pictured is Carbon fiber look. But you get the point.

I see one tire is on one of the wheels. If you plan on doing any welding on the wheel please remove tire first!
