So I was cleaning out the garage and getting out my winter rims and figured I wanted something different. So after doing some research I figured that I wanted to get my rims painted black. I know powder coating is the way to go but decided to paint them myself. I did one rim and here is how it came out.....

Before:

After:

I did a lot of prep work and it took almost all day to do one rim. Looking at the finished rim, I felt it needed something else. The time attack theme was a last min thought and threw it on there to see how it would look. What do you guys think? All black or leave the time attack?? I say time attack

I'm not much for the black wheel theme but it looks like you did some good solid prep work and got a great looking finish!

Thanks..I used Duplicolor and put about 5 -6 coats of primer, black and clear coat. I also had a halogen lite for the heat/ baking effect. Not sure if it helped but I'm happy with the results so far.

Looks good! Not sure if I like the red ring though. Post pics of them mounted up on the car...I'm kind of curious as to how black 124's look on a black e60. I've thought about getting mine powder coated gloss black or gloss dark gray

Nice. They look amazing. I am going to do the same for my 124's as soon as I get snow tires.

Thanks.. I just finished the other 3 rims and they are now in the process of drying under the halogen lights. I'll post up a few pics later tonight.

+1 .. I think the TA looks better on rims with low profile tires.
