Anybody in the forum removed their cats and installed an O2 sensor? Does it really work? Will it be reliable to use for a long time? Will an oxygen sensor simulator work on 525i msport e 60 bmw?

I'm planning to remove my catalytic converter to give me a bit of power increase in the least expensive way possible. I saw some articles that the O2 simulator works and is fairly cheap.

Thank you for your patience in reading this. I hope to hear from you guys soon. Best regards to you all.

it should work technically speaking but do you really think you will get a lot of power increase by removing ur cat? it's a naturally aspirated car. leave it there

you're better off getting free flow cats... you need some back pressure on the low end... you will lose some torque. unless you're constantly going top speed.

Ehmmmm... You can't completely remove the cat. Why ?
You would be faster above 4k rpm (especially 5k), but below 4k rpm you would be slower than a 510i.
I removed the cat on my Mini Cooper S and in second gear, 2k rpm, I wasn't able to accelerate faster than a C3!! But from 5k to 7k it flew.
I reinstalled stock cat and the final solution I chose is a 100 or 200 cells cat: in some weeks I am going to install it.

Thanks a lot for sharing. I really appreciate it.

When you say "it flew from 5K to 7K", does this mean it has better acceleration as compared to having your cats there at that rpm?

Just thinking a loud...If the power gains are significant, I am thinking of putting a Y pipe by-pass and an exhaust gate-valve to open at say 5K rpm...then I will still need the O2 sim. Then again might as well buy a similar 100 cell cat like you suggested.

Graci! Ciao!

Yes, it was astonishing: never been on track with the Mini, but I will as soon as possible. And I will reinstall the cat decat (now it is interchangeable with the stock cat)

From what I heard, those O2 sensors sometimes work, others don't. Without cat my Mini didn't turned on the light on the cluster, but I drove it for 3 days with this configuration.
Some say to insert the sensor but less than that it should, letting it a little more out.

On eBay a 100/200 cells cat isn't so expensive.
Bye and let us know!
