Hi,

My '04 530i (build date 02/04) does not have navigation or blue tooth integration. When my car was at the dealership last week, asked if there was a navigation retrofit option for my vehicle and was told there was no upgrade option.

Has anyone ever changed the existing BMW no nav system to a BMW navi system? - not sure if I can find a another '04 car with navi and swap the systems?

What options are available for aftermarket navigation, blue tooth, DVD player?

Comments, suggestions ....

thanks

I have upgraded from no nav to business nav. The procedure is not difficult. If you want an aftermarket solution have a look at Alpine VehicleHub Pro VPA-B222 or Kenwood eXcelon KOS-V1000 CarPortal.

I just bought a 2007 525i with no NAV and did some lite research and found this website <http://data.bmrparts.com/bmwparts/24061227520723U.html>

I called and they said it would be $600 for the computer and $400 for the screen.
I can't imagine the cost/process of installation and what would the dealer charge to reprogram.

Comming from somebody that had a great NAV system (06-Infiniti M45) it sucks not to have one, but for $1000-$2000 I will just have to start living without it. I use my iphone when I am lost.

BTW how good is the NAV on a BMW??

pretty good, esp. given that you can send addresses/points-of-interest from Google Maps or via BMW Assist.

Hi honda285,

Please update the location on your profile. If you are from US you can't retrofit Business Navigation and you have to go for the Professional which is more expensive and more difficult to install. In case you can use the Business Nav. you can have a look at this thread.

Aftermarket solutions can't be controlled via i-drive, therefore, an extra remote control is needed. If you decide to use the alpine solution then you can control your aftermarket hardware via the orb controller which is small and functions similar to i-drive. I'm sure that I've seen a topic about vechiclehub in the forum. The advantage of the aftermarket solutions is the flexibility you have in terms of hardware.

Similar I have Pro Nav on a March 04 E61 (Jan build), there are indifferent remarks about BMW bluetooth on the forums so I looked at IO Play for phone and to stream music, Halfords a Uk non specialist retailer said too difficult to fit to a 5 with Nav. I'm looking for a cost efficient option couple of hundred UK. Any suggestions?
