The module has to be present. Simply selecting the option via NCS won't do because if it isn't there it won't display.

This is an awesome project!
Congrats for being innovative and working with the iDrive screen and CAN bus/OBD.
Good Luck! I'm excited to watch this project progress!

Been a bit slow going but finally getting back on this project.
Prototype hardware: You see connectors for pt_can, k_can, video, power, and USB
Attachment 135462

Thanks for the support guys. 6 hours today troubleshooting the new hardware config so I can communicate with k_can and pt_can at the same time. It wasn't working when everything in my code said it should have been.. Realized I forgot to remove a jumper from the new modules - bingo started working.
Test results today:
- Screen and menu displays on iDrive
- I can change screens via the iDrive knob
- I can display RPM on the screen
Next step is to recode the remaining OBD values to display on the screen.
Once OBD is working then I will work to replace the OBD values with values from pt_can (non OBD).

Awesome, its getting better and better
too bad there is no nightvision option for E90... anyway great project!
- I am working on enableing video input without a video module. If I can make the car think there is night vision installed, then a steering wheel button can be used to turn on "night-vision" but instead miDrive displays. This is how I am currently displaying video in the screenshots shown here (via the night vision interface).
