I think that steering wheel goes with SMG in US.

Yep. It's the sports steering wheel, which comes with SMG, or as a stand alone option over here in Germany.

I got a price for the Ruthenium piece - roughly US$ 80.

Will try to see if it can be fitted to the MSports wheel without loosing the centre strip where the M Badge is mounted.

I have the sport package as well and this is my steering wheel. I believe the one above is the non-US sports steering wheel (not yet available for the E60 in US). Do you have a pic of yours?

Sorry at first glance I thought I had the aforementioned steering wheel, nevertheless I have the same as you.

I have the regular, sport-package, non-smg wheel and think it looks better.

Though, I'd switch out for the smg wheel as it's supposed to be thicker.

I have the cold weather package, which includes a heated steering wheel, which is nice and thick!

Yeah, same here, heated steering wheel is the best.....still thought that SMG wheel with CWP is thicker though, not sure.

Not sure if this has been posted before.

I found this in the new accessories catalogue. Looks like a non M - Sports wheel with ruthenium inserts.

I like it!

I bought the car from dealer stock. I wouldn't have ordered the cold weather package (heated front seats & steering wheel, and headlight cleaners), but that's how the dealer spec'd the car. I've never used the heated seats or steering wheel (other than when I first got the car to test) but the thicker steering wheel is a nice side benefit.
