I have a lease and was 6 months into it ...
I had seen that you had done this Pennetta, but just assumed that you owned the car. Do you in fact lease this car? I lease myself and this was the reason that I could see not doing this upgrade at this time. I am sure that BMW would frown on returning the car in 3 years after having this upgrade installed. Did you talk with BMW about doing this upgrade or just did it without asking?
Thanks,

Thanks,
Life is too short and the joy I get everytime I drive the car was worth spending $2000 on a leased car. When you say "did I speak with BMW," do you mean the BMW dealer or BMWNA? I spoke to my dealer, who also is a Dinan dealer, and he said that there will not be a problem returning the car from lease. The owner of this dealer is also a friend and is a member at my country club, so I am just trusting what he told me. I have leased four cars from him so far and because of the great condition of the cars upon return, he buys them and resells them. He will get more money on the resale with the Dinan upgrade than without it. The alternative is that the cars get sent to auction, BMWNA never gets them back.
If you look in the classifieds, Dinan cars trade for more than non-Dinan modified cars.

Yup. That is true. If you own a 535i (lease or own), you'd be silly NOT to do this upgrade. It's a no brainer.

Well, I got my manual tranny 535i a few days ago and am really enjoying it (the first night after I got it I didn't sleep well because I was so anxious to get up and drive it). It's quick, but coming from a steptronic 545 I'm counting the miles to get past the break in period and install the Dinan software. I'm really enjoying all the comments in this thread.

Thanks pennetta. I wasn't worried about the $2000 on a rented car. I have $4500 in wheels and tires on my rented car. I just was concerned about what BMWNA might say. Unlike you I did not buy from a Dinan dealer so they may not be as accomodating upon return. I totally agree with you for $2000 over the term of a lease it is money well spent.
