I like the 04 version much better. The additional wood masks out the beautiful geometry of the curve. Also it is way too much wood. Now it looks cheap like an American car.

I did not order the wood covered shifter for my Steptronic. Now with the more wood, I am thinking it may look better. Is it possible to get the wood covered shifter after delivery?

Yes. Looking at the BMWUSA configurator the one for the Steptronic shifter will cost you around $160.00. I will get it for mine too.
