Is it true the X-pipe robs hp?

Also, I know Magnaflow makes a muffler with a built-in X-pipe... is this a good substitution for the regular X-pipe?

im confused again... is the resonator also called the "Center muffler"? Can someone pin-point on this diagram where the resonators are located? 1 and 2 are the catalytic converters....

Sorry im a complete newb when it comes to modding and mechanics. Thanks!

Heres some pics of my set up, I removed resonator part #3 in the diagram. Replaced it with a magnaflow 14862 ( this muffler originally came with two tips attached, but I had them cut off. )You heard my vid no droning at all. You can hear a good presence between 1 and 3 rpm only when taking off in the first and second gear, once in third sounds pretty much like stock sound just a little throaty rumble not droning at all.

Heres my sound clip: http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q168/pd...nt=MOV00156.flv

Heres some pics of my set up:

Thanks for your help again Akalius!

Your exhaust sounds nice! I expected to be alot louder because you're only using one muffler but its NOT loud at all... it's just right!

Are you running 2" or 2.25" piping?

You think it will sound about the same on my 525i if I do the same set up? or quieter?

If you show up to one of the meets, you can get the chance of hearing a 525i with all piping cut from picture figure #3 to the back of the car with only a Magnaflow muffler built in X-PIPE replacing figure #3 and piping w/ QUAD Tips sounds like....

Which to me is NOT LOUD but just perfect for ME.

Thanks for your help again! I just ordered the Magnaflow with X-pipe integrated part# 11385... so everything is set for me, I just need a muffler shop to fabricate everything together now.
