The bridgestones are defineatly hard and I think in the long run cause rattles inside the car. I am switching wheels (going to 20s) but the ones I want will take 60-90 more days to get so I'll also be researching non runflats. I was leaning toward the Michelin PS2 but the wheel dealer is trying to talk me into Toyo TR1s. Says they are better than the Michelins and even have a 500 mile guarantee if I don't like them, I can get a full refund and mount the PS2s. Not a bad option.

I am away from home currently. So I went to the local BMW dealer, and asked about ordering the Michelins.
They said they can't order the PS2... only the Pilot Sports.
They may be quoting you the right tyre! PS2's are Pilot Sports. However, unless this is old stock then they should be Pilot Sport 2's... (The PS2 replaced the PS) Although, if they're not sure I'd go somewhere else

Well.... the Michelin website lists the Pilot Sport and PS2 differently.

So I will have to make certain I'm getting PS2 tires.

 Do not go near the RE050 RFT's. have them on my 530D, they are awful. Very hard ride, car slips over drain covers, rears down to 3 mm after 13,000 miles.

Time for new tires.

I saw a lot of people here have upgraded to Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. I want these tires.

But I just went to the Michelin website and entered my car into their tire fit thing, and they claim to not have any tires that fit a 2005 545i Sport Package.

This can't be true, seeing as so many people here have the PS2.

So... what size do I need to get?

My Dunlops say: Front 245 40 R18
Rear 275 35 R18

Do I need to know anything else before I order my tires?

Thanks.
Check tirerack.com. They have a very smart web site and it does recognize 545 sport. You can also check prices for tires from other manufacturers.

I vote Dunlop DSST's are even worse! Runflats an advance in road safety? Hmmm....

How come no all weathers as an voting option, i.e. Pilot A/S or Nero M+S

Should I go somewhere else to get my tires, and get the PS2.... or is there really not any noticable difference, and also... is it best to stick with having BMW mount and balance them?
Don't go to the dealer unless you feel like overpaying. The regular pilot sports are still a decent tire with an even better tread design, but for the same money, there's no reason not to go with the PS2s.

About the runflats, the sidewall is rather stiff which contributes to a rough ride, but that does allow for quick turn in, something I doubt the PS2s can parallel.

Because I live in Florida, where there is no such thing as winter.

GOODYEAR EAGLE F1-GS-D3'S.....

i installed those on my previous '03 330 with SP and they were excellent tires.

i had my current DUNLOPS replaced on my current 530 with SP (at 10K miles) by a rep that was visiting our local dealer on a "PR visit". I wasn't having any problems with the tires up to that point and after removal didn't look like they were wearing uneven. after these tires go out, i'll be popping on some goodyear's

Have anyone consider Kumho tires?? They are half of the price and got good reviews.
