My Ride: 05 545i, Jet Black, Black Leather, Black Anthracite. Sport Pkg, HUD, NAV, 20-way Comfort Seats, Prem Snd Pkg Logic7, Htd Rear Seats, Rear side impact, Cold Weather Pkg, Fold Down Rear Seat/Ski bag, Soon 2B chromed rims. Picked up in Munich, Drove it to Prague, Vienna, Salburg & Bremerhaven. Put on 1300 miles. Enjoyed driving it 140mph on Autobahn (4,400 rpm).

I think it's a matter of personal taste on whether or not to go with two different tints. I personally like one uniform shade, so I went with a Huper Optik 40% ceramic tint all the way around. The installer said the ceramic might give a slightly lighter appearance. In hind sight, I think a 30% would have looked better, but I am afraid of getting busted sometime in the future, so I went with the 40. It does look great & not too too dark; consider that if you can find a ceramic installer, might work for you in Virginia.

I just found out that in California the fronts have to be 70%. I'm not going to go 70% front and back. Or do you think I could get away with the 50%? I live in the Beach cities with lots of police ticketing all minor violations.

I've used the 35 on the rear glass and the 50 on the sides. It looked fine

70% in CA?

Jeez.....that's ridiculous. Your car has that much tint from the factory. That means you can't tint at all.


Somehow, I think that is not correct. I'm going to look that law up. I'll get back to you.

4 inch strip on front windshield. 70% on front doors. Any tint on all other windows.


That basically means in California you cannot use any tint on your front doors, because your window from the factory is already about 70% tint.

No such thing as winter in Florida either.... but we can tint our windows, and only have license plates on the rear.
