I got my new wheels 18" M5 style 166 replicas, the wheels look great. I noticed a vibration when doing around 50+MPH, the vibration wasnt like a typical steering wobble it was the whole car front and back. I went back with the wheels to the shop and was advised that i should have been supplied hubcentric rings for a proper fitment, I had run around for a couple most of the week without the rings. Now i have the rings fitted but i can still feel a slight vibration at 70MPH on the motorway though not as bad, i cant decide if it was always there with the old wheels or not. Runflats on the old wheels are terrible so you do expect a rough feeling, the new non runflats are smoother in general. Any one have any ideas?

vibration could be from a lot of reasons: bent rim, uneven tire wear, tire pressure, simple balance issue, and more.

i went to road force balance place to figure out mine, and they did a great job. it's a little more expensive then regular balance but worth it

I had EXACTLY the same problem with my first "new" wheels two and a half years ago. They were also 18" M5 style replicas. After all I got it solved with a very pedantic wheel balancing job. I hope you get it solved.

Well guys i took my car to a garage today to get all four wheels checked, i watched each wheel spin on the balancer and i couldnt believe how bad the balance was 25, 40, 55, 55. The guy removed all the weights and fitted his own, he spun the wheels again and it read 0 on each. I took the car for a spin down he motorway to see if it was improved, hell yes the car is smooth at all speeds . I had no idea just how bad runflats made the car to drive, the difference is night and day .

Thanks for the advice guys.

I really need to have mine balanced, it shakes like crazy ever since I had a tire patched. They swapped the back tires because they said they were on backwards??? No idea what that means.

a lot of low profile treads are directional. the tires are only made to be a right rear or left rear and are not meant to be rotated like a traditional tire.

Some tyres are directional, you can tell by looking at the writing on the tyre if it is then it have an arrow showing the rotation direction. My new tyres on my wheels aren't, this surprised me because i thought all tyres were.

vibration is caused by these possible issues

1) out of balance
2) out of alignment
3) bent rim (s)
4) lack of hubcentric rings
5) tire wear, bubbles
