I haven't used my NAV once! I like to watch the pretty map move, though, as I drive along.

If you go places you don?t frequent it is invaluable. If you use it to go places you?ve been it?s a toy.

It can be fun also. I had business in Twichintwat, TN. I was doing 95 on I75 northbound and coming up on my exit. A TN Trooper was on my ass doing 96. I missed my exit and the NAV lady got her thong in a wad and told me to ?Make a legal U turn?. Yeah sure!

Include it in your options.

Get it simply for the integration between car, nav, phone, larger screen. I'll be a problem trying to shift that car later without the Nav.

I love the nav system. I have used a number of aftermarket systems - and while they all have plusses and minuses - the built in BMW system is so much more convenient to use.

If I bought an E60 without one - I would simply purchase an aftermarket system - but given my choice between the same car with and without (particularly if ordering a new car) I would pay the extra $$$ for it.

Nav + HUD =
+1
I hardly ever look at the normal instruments except for the fuel gauge.

I use the navigation all of the time. I use it on any trips where it especially comes in handy in unfamiliar places, I use it to pinpoint unfamiliar restaurants, etc around town, and I use it for traffic info which is real handy in a big city such as Charlotte. It will occasionaly send me on a strange route if a traffic delay would be slower than the alternate route. I will generally put the perspective map display in the small window and the iPod track display, etc in the main window.

I concur, the nav instructions in the HUD is a must. Besides the convenience of the display, I don't have to listen to the nav lady interrupt my music every moment or two.

IMO... definately worth it... I often put it on the Nav Assistant (the smaller window on the right of the iDrive screen) so that I can use the other features (BT phone, radio, etc) as well as see the maps and directions when I want. Also, one less thing (GPS) that you'd stick to your windshield with the portable one. I actually passed on a couple E60's that did not have NAV until the one I purchased came along...

I dig it!

No, for me it's not worth it. I'd use it maybe a few times per year. I enjoy getting lost ... but I'm an adventurer.

Resale value has never been a concern of mine, but I think a NAV system will command a better trade value as time passes.
