IMO no, but I guess it's like the sports package, you don't miss what you've never had. 
I just use my BB/google maps app. I think you see a lot of e60's with it as it's commonly put into the cars, unless ordered specifically not to be put in (as in my case)...

displays the main menu/"home" screen...
for me my ipod is always plugged in and on, so it shows the play list I am on and track info...
