I just want to share where my project is at. Everything is installed by me except 166 wheels and tires. Let's go from front to back of the car:
Exterior:
1. M5 front bumper -> Done.
2. The 166 OEM wheel (285 rear and 245 front) -> Done
3. ///M side skirts/sills -> Done
4. Dinan's Exhaust and then make it quad -> Wait for Dinan Engineer Chris Chandler getting back to me when I can get free flow exhaust installed
5. M5 bumper -> Got it painted and sitting in my garage waiting for exhaust stage completes
6. Thinking about side gills -> I have a pair ready, but I need to think again before doing it. No M5 badge whatsoever.

Interior:
1. ///M paddle shifter -> Done
2. Illuminated ///M shift knob -> Done
3. ///M footrest -> Done
4. ///M gas and brake pedals -> Done

Fred, you da man!
Looks great. Just one word of advice. Don't put on the side gills even if there isn't a M5 logo. You have to let us know how you got the M5 front bumper put into the stock e60 fenders. There are a few people here that are confounded by this quandary. Can't wait to see the M5 rear with quad exhaust.

Awesome work Fred!!!!

I also agree with Joe about the side gills....don't put them on. Just my .02 though. On the other hand, what about the M Tech trunk lid spoiler? hehe

Also, what are those black plastic pieces that you cut off? Brake cooling ducts?

It took me 4.5 hours on Tuesday from 8pm to 12:30am just to mount 6 screws between fender and M5 bumper. It did not align very well and working space was very limited.

The gap b/w fender and M5 bumper cannot align smoothly, but I can live with 1/2 cm misalignment. Very unnoticable unless I told my wife that there a misalignment.
I had to buy M5 bumper bracket to make it fit with regular fender. No question about it. If using old bracket, it ain't gonna fit.
For airduct, I just cut it like in the pic and it fits perfectly w/o screw or anything. No rattle of anykind.
However, front bumper foam should be removed to accomodate M5 bumper or it wouldn't fit.

I need to get rid of foglight error, but too lazy for now. Wait until Friday, and I'll depress those errors

Yeah, I think that white is the best color for the e60. Having seen iceman316, my530i and a white M5 in the showroom of a dealership, I'm a convert to white.

Again, awesome job Fred! A lot of credit goes to people like you and nicke60gre for all these DIY jobs. I certainly couldn't do it even though I remember years ago when I took apart my VW Scirocco motor and rebuilt everything from the ground up.

And I agree with Freed0m and Vegastrashed. Having just seen Steve Dinan's white M5 on Monday (as well as Fred's and Iceman316's pics), my next car would probably be white....maybe with black wheels???

Its ugly, its disguisting

Joking of course.

It looks AMAZING.The fact that you did everything yourself makes it even better.
