Default My build thread in progress.....

HI guys,

I recently purchased a cpo 2010 528i w/32k miles. Space grey, grey leather, black floor mats for 2 tone look, Premium, Navi, Heated seats, and Adaptive xenons. I really wanted a 535, but I can't afford any more tickets right now LOL. So the 528 will help me drive a little bit more responsibly. Plus, it will prevent me from spending thousands more by modding the car with go fast parts. So the plan is to make the vehicle look a little better for the next couple years.

First mods were tint, oem sport suspension, and matte black vinyl window surrounds.

I'm planning on running a squared 20x9.5 Miro 111 setup. I managed to purchase 2 so far. It's been impossible finding 2 more, so I'm working on a little project. Details to come later

I ordered a m5 tech bumper, black kidney grills, and projector fogs from unmitza over 2 months ago and I'm still waiting for them to make things right. The first bumper arrived with PDC holes drilled into it (i don't have pdc) and they forgot to ship the kidneys and fogs with it. So I immediately sent the bumper back and the rep told me he'd have it corrected right away and sent back within a week. 6 weeks later....no bumper and they just keep blaming the paint shop for the delay. REALLY?

I managed to pick up a set of KW v3's today for a super good price . I didn't plan on getting a set of KW's, but the price was too good to pass up. I originally planned on getting a set of ST's since they're basically KW v1's without the stainless steel body.

That's it for now. Hopefully the bumper and other wheels arrive shortly. Comments welcome!

UPDATE 3/21/13

Installed my KW's today. Had to run to EAS to pick up some 3mm macht schnell spacers. The tire was barely rubbing on the springs and spring perch. Also test fitted my Miro's. Looks like it's going to be a little more work to fit these than anticipated. We'll see once I get them powdercoated and tires mounted.

UPDATE 3/23/13

Picked up some parts last night. Props to member project5 for hooking me up. Got me a m5tech bumper, projector fogs, and black kidneys. Test fitted the bumper and it looks pretty good. Going in for paint this week.

UPDATE 4/11/13

Installed my M5tech bumper and black kidneys today. Wheels should be finished being powdercoated sometime next week.

UPDATE 5/10/13

Got my fenders rolled and pulled thanks to Tony out in Grenada Hills to fit my new wheels. Running a 3mm spacer in front and 12mm in the rears. Probably going 5mm in the front so I can adjust the front coilovers a lil lower. The front spring perch will rub on the tires if I drop it more from the current height. Will also run a wider spacer out back. I'm thinking 15mm or 18mm to make the wheel poke outside of the fender (not the tire).

Also looking for some center caps. I'm leaning toward the black/silver carbon fiber BMW roundel center caps. I'll also get the hood and trunk roundels to match.

The wheels are a custom color powder coat. I went with a heavy metallic flake silver base coat with a black/bronzish tint clear top coat. The wheels look gloss black in the shade, but appear gloss black with a hint of bronze metallic showing through while in sunlight. I'm very happy with the outcome and got a lot of compliments at the tire shop. The wheels look much more classy and expensive than compared to matte black.

Youre definitely heading the right direction, but id do staggered wheels.
Sucks about the delay with your parts.

How good of a deal was that coil over set up? Mine is almost at 60k miles. Thinking i may need new shocks soon, might as well upgrade.

Actually picked up the coilovers from a private seller that no longer has a 5er. Got em for 1500 brand new in box. He hadn't even cut the straps that hold the box closed until I got there.

Going to run a squared setup only to have a super aggressive stance in the front. I love how concaved the 20x9.5's look in the front. Need to get my fenders pulled and rolled because I need to run a spacer just to clear the front coils also.

You mention that you upgraded to the OEM sport suspension, then found a set of KWs. The first picture looks like the car is on OE non-sport suspension. If you do have the OEM sport stuff then took it off, I'm looking for a set of OEM sport springs from a 6 cylinder car. Please PM me if you'd be interested in selling them.

Nice upgrades. I got my KW v2's installed a few weeks ago and had run a 5mm spacer in the front only so my tire to clear the spring perch. Now the fun part is tuning the suspension once you get the miro's on your ride.

So how do you like the KWs? Can you share your impression of ride quality and handling?
