MTECH Kit Paint Matching Issues
I had a local shop install an MTECH-style kit on my 530 but when I got it back I noticed that the paint on the new bumper covers doesn't quite match the car. It's the A08 silver. The bumpers have a slightly blue-ish hue compared the rest of the car. The paint shop says that the material will affect how the paint looks plus the paint on the rest of the car is 6 years older. They suggested a clay bar treatment to the rest of the car to see if that helps restore the original luster of the paint, but conceded that it would never be perfect. They said if they started messing with the color it could come out worse. Supposedly they're using the newest, bestest PPG paint available that's supposed to the best best match I can get.
Have any of you guys had an issue with this? Do I need to give in or should I fight this? Is this more of a problem with this paint color? I tried taking a picture but my camera can't really tell the difference. I can totally tell in most lighting, but most people who see the car don't notice unless I tell them.
Thanks- Marc

Sorry, but I think that shop won't admit that they messed up in painting it. Did you leave your car at the shop for them to reference the paint for color matching? There are countless members here that got new bumpers including aftermarket who did not have any paint matching issues regardless of what color car they have. However, there is a thread here where a member got a new MTech kit that was painted and didn't match. His shop was willing to fix it for him. Even the best paint can be color matched and mixed improperly.

i would fight...and fight hard. as a last resort, be prepared to take them to small claims court. if its mis-matched and you can get a quote from a rival shop that guarantees to match the same color for a similar price...the court will side with you. youre paying for a service...either it gets performed properly or you deserve your money back. period.

Yeah, one shop told me $1100 to paint the mtech kit. He told me 13 hours and I was bringing the kit not even on the car...
I found a shop that did their painting on site and they did it for $400. Sounded like a much better deal to me! Its a much better match now than the pic in my sig.
