Hey everyone, I had some LEDS lying around and I wanted to try this mod.

I took apart our AC control and the Seat heater control and found out they are SMD LEDS, which I have for my M5 cluster project (doing it tomorrow).

So i decided, let me change them to see how it would look.

I thought it was going to look cool and a warm / artic white look. But boy was I wrong...

The OEM colors are very eye pleasing and pretty much doesn't distract your when you drive.

The new ones I put are SUPER Bright! I was like, holy shiet!

Well enough of the talk, here are the pics. I'm going to purchase a better color (probably a warm white, or blue).

After: (please note that it actually looks more white, like 6000k HID's than blue. The camera plays tricks on you.)

I know most of you will not like it, but its half way in the step that I want to go. Customize the interior a little bit. Now I just have to find the right color.

yo, if I had a dollar for every thread that Mike started with "...so I had some LEDs laying around..."

I'd prolly have at least like a dollar or two by now!

Mike, as always, respect on the job, but you said it right - its just a step in the right direction - with a better color-match it will look really cool tho

Good mod
Change to blue or green color may be better.

? understand the look you were going for, but agree, that just doesn't work with those particular LEDs!
you could colour match the rest of the dials and shifter; not exactly exciting, but possibly a cleaner look?
Or colour match the console as is, and put (less bright!!) white LEDs in the M5 shifter and seat heaters?
thats about as creative as I can get at this time on a Friday morning

(p.s. just love what you've done to your car; umnitza front, M5 rear and vorsteiner spoiler really make it )

I think they are too bright. I love bright -- but not in my face at night while driving. A softer, more toned color might work.

what is it with some people who just have to change things, and assume its better?

seriously, the hyperwhite led fad is going to far sometimes.
