Unhappy

Hi everyone!

I have recently purchased a 2007 550i (build date 03/06) and realized that I am missing the Information menu, which contains the POI database, from the navigation screen. My nav DVD is version 2005.2. I have tried the 2006.2 DVD and the Information menu was still missing. All other 2007 BMW I have looked at during the search for my car had the POIs.

Do I need some sort of i-Drive update from the dealer or should I get the newest 2009.1 Nav DVD?

Thank you all in advance for any help you can provide!

IIRC it moved around that time in the menu system.

It will be there somewhere. See if you can download 2007 and 2005 manuals. One will show the correct location for your car.

I am sorry, this is all new to me. What is IIRC?

The i-Drive Hierarchy in my car is just like the one posted in this link:

https://5series.net/information/idrive/

Does it mean that my car is not equipped with POI?

Thanks.

IIRC = If I remember correctly (sorry!)

Right, mine is on the Navigation menu, at the top level (i.e. 1 click up from address selection), you can go right to "Information", and it's all there. Not visible on the main screen unless you scroll right.

If it's not there...look at page 1 of this old document of mine.....you won't have the "Speed Camera" bit, but it may well be there...this is the older software.

I finally found it using the instructions in your PDF! Thank you very much for your help.

Believe it or not, I called five BMW dealerships today and all said that my car must not be equipped with POIs since they are not in the information menu. One dealer said that I need to replace the "navigation control module" in order to get the POIs.

I hope this post will be helpful to someone else like me who is new to the BMW community.

Thanks again!

Excellent, I knew it would be there.

Now, you need a software upgrade on the car. You've definitely got the old style one still. See if you can pesuade the dealer that obviously doesn't have a clue to do it for you.
