Follow up. OK, I have installed the Dinan throttle body, the B&B exhaust, BMW 101's (very light) and PS2's, and have removed my spare and jack for in-town use (repacing them with the BMW mobility kit). I'll put my original wheels/run flats and spare/jack on/in for trips.

I think the result is very good; I am sure that I can feel a fairly distinct difference before and after all the changes. And, I really like the looks of the wheels and tires. Money well spent. I've posted the pic below in the parts, mods, etc., dicussion. But, here it is again. I like it.

I LOVE your wheels Do you think your throttle body has made any perceptible difference? I have been thinking about it. One thing that I have done (and actually went with JDN one night) is take it out to an 1/8 mile track and get the actual run time. I would love to know yours.
Thank you for the nice thought on the wheels. Check them out better here. I did the throttle body first. I could not tell any real difference from it alone, but that does not mean they was no difference. I don't think you are likely to feel a "small" single mod, but I think you can feel the cumulative effect of several. After all mods are done, I am planning to take the car to the strip for a few runs. I don't care about the Xmas tree. I'd just be interest in the time/speed. I doubt that driving would be a problem since I should get little, if any, wheel spin with the auto.

Beautiful car!? I'll bet you're close to 550i performance.? Your mods probably netted you a real 30 - 35 HP.? Plus you improved you ride, handling and braking, and you probably sound better.? Nice job!

Thanks much for the very nice compliment. My goal is to be competitive with the 550i and others, including maybe, for example, the AMG C55, the Caddy big V-8, and the 425 HP hemi Chrysler. I will need more HP for the last 3. I am hoping an intake will do it. I am not sure if I want to chip if, and when, available from Dinan. I am shooting for the equivalent of about 390 HP vis a vis stock.

Thank you very much. It's interesting how much difference a little care makes. I parked near a Silver Gray 530i tonight that needed washing and waxing. It looked like two different cars.

The wheels are BMW style 101's. They are "M' wheels, but honestly, I don't know exactly what that means. I don't know if they once were stock on, say, an M3 or if they came with some M package. They are 19"s, and they are very light--in the neighborhood of 22.5 lbs. Given what they are, they are very inexpensive--as I recall list is $745 for rears and $715 for fronts. They are listed as accessories for the 5 series in the 5 series accessories catalog. I was lucky. I am new to BMW and just bumped into them at my dealer--when I was considering buying some more expensive, but also very light, BBS wheels. The BBS's would have been nice too--my second choice since I insist on lightness.

M wheels should be lighter than the normals one, plus that rim is a composite rim so should be even lighter. But when is time for washing would be a pain with the mesh and all the brake dust BMW is famous for
Right, their lightness and looks are the reasons I bought them. But, see above on the washing issue.

There are currently three chips out there that claim to give about 30 hp and tq. I know Wettenaur (sp?) is a good brand, so their claims are probably valid.
Thanks much for the chip info. I probably will wait for Dinan. My dealer is Dinan certified, and I am trying to minimize the risk of mod-related warranty problems.

Good call.
I'm also waiting for Dinan's claims but will have no problems going to Upsolute if Dinan's price doesn't reasonably match the product.
