Thoughts? Yes.

1) You have entirely too much time on your hands.

2) Once again, it is a two ton plus sedan. Okay, now it is a 3850 pound sedan (I know, you're going to tell me those are inaccurate numbers, this is just a relative indicator). But physics is still going to limit you from turning this into a Lotus Elise or even a 997. It's still a big box, designed with compromise in mind. If you want a different compromise, try a different flavor. It is a superb compromise, but a compromise it is.

OK, shutting up now.

Donv's time is very interesting. He hovers between the theory and the practical, which whether one follows it or not is all up to the individual. Reading his posting reminds me of the good times in college (liberal arts) where the professor presents and challenges the issues. Rock on. . .

Thank you for the nice thoughts.

There is a reason for what you observe. ~{:^)
Also remember that 360 'aftermarket claimed' horsepower is probably not the same as 360 horsepower specified by BMW.? I'd be very surprised if you were as fast as a 550, but you'll be close.

I'm not quite sure what you mean above. But, I don't think the 550i will be faster than the performance figures given by BMW. I also plan on adding all, or some, of the the Dinan parts that are supposed to be out by the end of September--at least the cold air intake and maybe the MAF (if available) and the programming (if available). In fact, I might do those things rather that the wheels/tires. I was mainly thinking "out loud."

My 550 is coming in a couple of weeks, I will do the same mods as you, to gain even more horsepower, any way you look at it, the 550 will be faster. Its a matter of playing the catch up game, wich I will probablly have to do in a couple of years also.
Yes, after the mods, the 550 will be faster. Great. There always are all those under acheivers out there for both of us. ~{:^) And, it may take a while for you to find acceptable mods. By then, I'll have my 550i (probably yes!) or (M5 probably not!) I do wonder if Dinan will "certify" the same parts for the 550i and the 545i. I'm waiting for the new Z06 to be sold for a reasonable price and for at least the second year of its existence. The new one will keep you ahead of the Joneses for a very long time.

Do you mean "now (as in time)?" Or, are you asking why do it at all? Possible answers to the first are "sieze the moment," "be here now," "don't put of what you can do today," etc. ~0{;^) Assuming the later, I believe it all is explained above pretty thoroughly above. Please elaborate on your question if you think I can clarify something for you. I'm always happy to play.
