Which matte black grills/kidneys are the "best"

gloss black looks awesome as well. I think it depends on the overall look your trying to achieve, etc. But black is def the way to go aside from the chrome(barf), either way you cant go wrong, I have the gloss on my 550 and M and they look amazing!

its matte black but we also offer painted grilles

Does anybody offer a grill with the outside chrome ring but the bars are black?

The part comes apart. Just swap it out if it's OEM.

It actually look better other way around, like so:
