My Ride: 2008 M5 -- Exterior: Silverstone, Interior: Black. Fully Loaded. That just about sums it up! :-)
Looks like my post is a little late, but I'd go with the M5 mirrors. 
Hey, wait a minute....that's what I did!
Basically I chose purely on which "aftermarket" mirrors looked the best and went with it. As with most on this forum I too was shocked about the price.
By the way, I bought mine through Roveractive, the online company that sells on eBay. I got them for just under $1,800 (Beware, there are cheaper ones out there but they do not include the "anti-dazzle" feature).
This also included having them painted to match the color of my car.
Look for Alexbr's post on M5 mirrors. It's what got me to decide on the M5 mirrors.
I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Well, certainly M5 mirrors look and function the best. But IMO ACS mirrors are WAY better that the outdated standard OEM "elephant ears". 
In general I think calling ACS "cheesiest and cheepest" is a kind of orthodox negative approach towards any
mods (M-aero kit inclusive). <_< ACS is a high end only-BMW tuner.They try to preserve the uniqueness of BMW brand. Their authorised dealers in Europe are mainly BMW garages. Certainly ACS succeeds in some parts better than in the others and tastes differ...
But I can't agree that ACS parts look cheep and low quality.
I do not like Hamann because they try to impose their style irrespective of a car brand. That is why you can easilly imagine any car with their front and mesh grills shall it be BMW, MB, Porsche, Pontiac or a Japs car. They even go further to replace BMW badge with their own bird. IMHO that harms the BMW outlook.

Hi Igor Happy New Year all ya know I am not fun of ACS and like HMN
but now I agree with you ACS is not cheapest certainly not from financial point of view, but it is IMO true that the design of the ACS mirror and this is all about deciding - on personal preferences - which mirror one shall have, the design of this ACS I do not feel elig. with the look of E60.
About changing the identity of the car,,, I am mad about HMN because I like it that it is totally different from Oem and from other aftermarkets, but still stays a BMW or Ferrari etc, but I do not need the emblem of BMW- to show it is, under the hood and inside outside it will always stay a BMW...
No flame Bro I respect your prefrence and the competitos of brands and tuners... hope everybody does,
I like my kit as all who see either hate it or luv it, I personally have more positive feedbacks than ever,,,

I respect both ACS and Hamann. At this point i would choose the m5 mirrors over the acs ones. It just looks better from my point of view. But more pics with the acs mirrors can't harm, i'd like to see the mirror from different angles.
Regarding ACS vs Hamann i do agree that Hamann has a way of poking u in the eye with all the hamann emblems. I mean really there is no need to replace everything possible with hamann emblems (engine cover, hood, bootlid, idrive knob, even steering wheel). It's too much imo. It shouts: hey look at me i don't drive a bimmer i drive a hamann. IMHO at least the badges on the hood and on the boot should remain bmw badges.
