Default M5 mirrors retrofit question

Hello all! Ok so I have searched and read until my eyes started to cross but I need some help. Two questions.

1. I installed OEM mirrors with M5 window switch but the mirrors won't fold when I press the button on the window switch. It was my understanding from previous threads that there was no coding needed for it to work with the OEM window switch with folding button.

2. So dumba$$ me was so excited to put my mirrors on that I forgot to pull the negative terminal before disconnecting the air bag. so, any ideas on getting my airbag light to go off without going to the stealership?

Thanks for any help!!!

What year is you car? You've verified the M5 mirror has folding capability? IIRC you'll at least need option code 430.

AFAIK, if your car does not have the DNA for mirror folding having just the button will not do any good 'cuz the folding button is not an on/off switch but it sends signal to the module (either body gateway or door module depending on the model year) to fold/unfold so when the corresponding module have no folding option nothing happen.

You may be able to clear it using INPA or need to go to the dealer for something safety related error clearing ... maybe an independent mechanic can do it too.

GL!

I was really hoping that you were going to reply to my thread. I had read a threat awhile back that you had posted on. Anyway, my car is an 06' and the guy I got the mirrors from said they were loaded with all the options. I saw that you said $430A and possibly $431A needed to be added to the VO but I was thinking that was for enabling folding via key fob.

Sorry I know it wasn't the answer you expected ... most people like to enable the folding via key fob since no additional part (the driver side window control) to buy that's probably why when you read thru most thread(s) you find those option code in relation with the key fob access... but I think the actual requirement to fold/unfold is the option code and the key fob addition is the icing on the cake.

AFAIK like those LCI model that equiped with folding button on the driver side has option 430 on their VO. So the key fob access to it is an add-on feature similar to all window roll down or all window roll up (not on US market due to possible lawsuit) etc via key fob.

the folding option requires coding. the VO of the car needs to be updated.

You will be able to clear the errors using INPA or Tool32.

Ok so just to clarify I do need to add $430A and $431A then I can enable key fob fold/un-fold and that should get the window switch working as well?

Bruce, is there a specific section in INPA that I should go for the air bag reset? I have only used NCAexpert so INPA is all new to me but I do have it on my laptop.

Thank both of you for your help!

Ok guys, so quick update. I added $430 to the VO and enabled BEIKLAPPEN_B_KOMFORTSCHL and ASP_BEIKLAPPEN via the KGM. Worked like a charm for both window switch and key fob. So thank you BlaSTiWi

Second issues was fixed via INPA so thanks Bruce for the suggestion. Both you guys rock!!!

Do you have the part number for the window button? Is the button from a pre-LCI M5? I have an 06' as well and I hear non-M LCI cars is when they came out with folding mirrors so I'm guessing the button from a non-M LCI car won't work.
