look great! How does the folding function work? In other words what button inside the cabin causes the mirrors to fold? Also can you help with the part number(s)

Thanks

Chris

Two ways to fold the mirrors:
1. Button on the driver's side window lift panel, next to the rear-view mirror switch.
2. Hold down the lock button on the key, which also closes the windows and sunroof if they're open.

That's on Euro spec e60's of course.

My p/n's are for RHD cars, but these should be correct for LHD cars:

1. 51 16 7 897 565 &566 - foldable housings primed
2. 51 16 7 897 553 &4 - electrochromatic heated glass

There appears to be another set of p/n's for non-foldable housings, and two more p/n's for different types of glass (no auto-dimming, convex, or plain).

I'm in Palm Desert heading down to San Diego today, so I can't check my p/n's since they're in Singapore.

The US$1,499 price on Roveractive is more in line with what they cost in Europe. The electrochromatic glass in the mirrors cost almost as much as the housings.

Alex.br, did your installer take the black plastic parts off before spraying the housing? Mine had to.

I installed my by myself. I disassembled all the mirrors and removed all primed parts (3 for each side). Than I sent them to my paintshop.

Hi,

My original side mirror got the auto dimming function. This feature is so new to me and all my previous cars didn't have this function. Is it worth to order M5 side mirror with the auto dimming function? As u know, it is much more expensive. I would like u to share your experience.

thanks
