The clue was in the title:

M166 M5 Wheels 9X19 (Front wheels Touring Version), Will they be okay on the Sedan/Saloon ?

On second thoughts, it was partly my fault......as I see that the 9x19's are actually rear wheels for the E61 M5, not front wheels. But I am asking if they could be used as front wheels for the E60 (Non M5) Sedan.

Will these fit on the E60 (Non M5) Saloon IF USED AS FRONT WHEELS, without any issues, specifically:

1. Can I use standard bolts.
2. Any rubbing issues on arches/fenders etc.
3. Will they protrude from the arches, or just fit flush against them (which would be nice!).
4. Can I use standard 245/35/19 tyres
5. Any issues with ride/handling ?

OK. I'll elaborate.

1. Yes.
2. No, offset is 5mm deeper (ie. 5mm closer to the suspension) Hopefully not an issue with caliper clearance..
3. They will definately not protrude and even the 8.5" rims with ET12 offset would be more flush (nicer!)
4. Yes. However 9" rim is 13mm wider, thereby "stretching the tire an equivalant amount.
5. Depends on 4.

Conclusion (imo):

From a purely technical standpoint the tire will fit and the wheel will roll.

Personally I wouldn't do it.

 

I thought we talked about this already, what you don't trust me?

Re: 3. Why would the 8.5 rim which is less wider, fit more flush than the 9" rim. I'm confused......is it to do with the (deeper) offset ?

Re: 4. Is "stretching" the tyre by this amount considered dangerous ?

Finally, why would you not go with these wheels at the front ? Is it purely because of reason of looks, or for reasons of ride quality/handling.

DRANGED - We talked about M6 rear offsets, and that was very useful....thanks.
My query here is about using 9x19 rim as the front wheels on a Sedan.

 

3. Overall the 9" is obviously wider - but it's not efficient for looks as you lose partly from the deepness of the rim in the wrong direction (towards the suspension) - offset is the most important aspect imo.

4. it only "stretches" 13mm, it's doable but not ideal.

Overall, like I mentioned it's technically within parameters - but I like to stick with BMW specs

9"wide rim @ 19" for front on a E60 is not specified. It's one thing playing around with tire sizes to acheive a desired result, but it's not common to do the same with rims.

Maybe someone can chime in with more info/knowledge on this query.
