Hey guys I lost my keys over the weekend I have a spare but now I need a new one...i have the 04 key, im guessing i have to cough up still 50 or so bucks to the dealer...but i was wondering if there is a cheaper option since my dealer so far has tried to rip me on anything or everything.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Replacement keys use to cost more than $50 to replace, I'm not sure nowadays. But if your dealer has tried to rip you on everything, it might be time for a change

Yeah, you're looking at $100+ for a replacement key. I lost my spare in Katrina and dealer in Houston gave me a discount and only charged something like $90 w/ tax. You'll have to provide dealership of ownership for them to order a new key from BMW...

We have some very cooperative BMW Parts Departments offering discounts for forum posters; Proof of ownership can always be faxed so they can process the order. Don't know if the new keys require special activation or if the owner can handle.
