You were 'bout to buy 1/2 of that ebay kit (the rear part) -> https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=79280 ... sometime ago ...
There are reasons why Bruce cable is expensive 'cuz Bruce kit is not only wires it has electronic components in it & that ebay piece ain't even close  .

LCI tailight retrofit

anyone ever seen, used, or heard of this option?

I know bruce makes some nice cables but the price is expensive. This may be an alternate route......

Some of their prices are definitely a little on the high end...

Many people used it especially those who did a full OEM front/rear LCI conversion (like those members on the https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=46834 thread).

Bruce used it during his development too ... I'm using that same exact ebay kit (at less than 1/3 price) for my LCI headlight conversion.

BUT it's not a plug-n-play solution otherwise people already jumpin' on it like crazy ...

I have Bruce's and it is entirely Plug and Play - no wires running to power sources, etc. If you can afford the extra money, I'd go with Bruce.
