I have connected my ipod using the AUX In jack that has been described extensively on E60 forums. Although it does not interface with idrive or the steering wheel controls, I personally find that the isntallation has worked well and the sound quality to be excellent. I use a Belkin TuneDok holder that fits into my cup holder and holds the ipod making the ipod easily accessible from the driver's perspective.

Others have tried the fm transmitters and had problems with interference from local stations.

Dension has been promising an idrive compatible interface for some time now. I personally would not go that way.
