License plate frame, yay or nay?

Painting your gutters and downspouts a contrasting color to "highlight" them (or otherwise attract the eye to them) is how I view license plate frames. A plate frame is highlighting something that the eye should ignore -- not be forced to notice more...

Obviously, it's my opinion only -- if you like how frames look, go for it!
and if i didnt lived in nyc i would remove the front plate all together.....but i dont so instead of trying to "hide" the plate you might as well make look as neat as possible.
