Hey guys, I've been lurking the forums for quite some time now. Hoping I can get some help with a question regarding putting 2008 OEM LCI Taillights on my 2007 530i. From what I've read, they should fit just fine, however on the Ebay listing, the seller is saying they will only fit on 2008-2010... Is this true? Also if I put OEM LCI's on my 2007 530i, will I not need retro-fit cables. I've read a lot of different views and hoping to get some more specific insight.

Thanks in advance!

If you just want to do LCI tails and not the headlights, your safe and surest bet is to contact member Bruce Miranda and order his plug and play cables. I have used 3 versions over the last few years and on 2 different E60's with zero issues.

If you want to retrofit headlights and tails, that is a different story. You will need the lights, obviously, and you will need the retrofit wiring kit which can be obtained for around 100USD on eBay or at the dealer. The technical aspects of installing the lights is easy to find with a BMW PDF floating around the internet. The coding however, will require either an easy going indy shop/service writer or the help of a local member on this board who is experienced in coding. If your car falls behind a certain build date (I don't know off-hand), you may require a new light control module as well to ensure OEM functionality of the lights. That being said, voltage is voltage and with a creative mind anything is doable.

When I first went down this road I was completely overwhelmed at the sheer complexity of this proposed retrofit - but take my advice and pace yourself, read this forum, use the search and before you know it you could potentially have the confidence to do almost anything to your car.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, I am very excited to get this accomplished, and it will be my first mod (which I believe is probably the greatest single mod I've seen on this site.)

What's most important to me, is that the LCI tail-lights look clean and function properly (rods light up bright, and no lights staying on when they shouldn't)

With that being said, I am open to all suggestions. I've read quite a bit on these forums, but still am unsure of how to go about it (OEM, replice/genuine). I've been searching on Ebay and it looks like "Genuine LCI" are about $600-700.

I'm open to all suggestions and would like to hear people's opinions. Thanks!
