This was one of the questions I had today at the dealer when I dropped my car off for service. They had no idea what do do to achieve the LCI effect, I asked them to check into it. I'll post any news I get back.

Does anyone know if i can just add an LCI bulb into my pre-LCI light to boost the brightness? I actually like the orange yellow look.

The easiest way is to change to blue H8 bulbs like theese: Blue bulbs
Makes BIG difference. And they don?t look blue, they just look extra white.
I?ll try to get some pics of my car for comparison.

To achieve the LCI effect - not talking about brighter lights - the slow dimming effect when you switch off the lights, you will need to replace the LCM on your car. I did that and had it recoded with the LCI settings, with the new tailights and an OEM e46 cable (same one being used) without the additions. Bruce helped me on my cable which was a unique one.
I have my stock pre-lci headlights and the LCI tail lights both work as an LCI giving me the dimming effect. I also managed to eliminate the strobing that occurs at start.
