I replaced the Dunlop 18" Factory RFT tires Staggered Fronts 245x40x18 & Rears 275x35x18 with tires that are a size larger. (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus). The larger tires are Fronts 245x45x18 and Rears 275x40x18. I am using the factory 124 wheels and I have not lowered the car. I hope this info is helpful to those who are thinking of going to a larger size tire while staying with the factory 18".

Results:
The new tire has more rubber between the wheel and the road providing an extra level of wheel protection and an awesome ride.
The larger tire fills the wheel well exquisitely leaving no need to lower the car.
The larger tires do not rub.

I also have 12mm spacers on the rear to kick out the tires a bit. I post this to share the fact that this larger size, on a 535xi, with factory offset 124s, will work and may be a solution to those members who want these modest improvementsat nearly no cost. It was difficult to find anyone who had done this. Several of you memebers provided me with your advice which was very helpful in this process.

Again, you can do this with no fear of rubbing.
