Got the K&N from Amazon a few days ago for $47 including shipping.
Agree with the above posters - seems to have better power at lower rpms, and more peppy starts, also revs seem to pick up slightly faster for a given tap on the X.
Slightly louder sound at high speeds I think.
My old paper filter was 2 years old and noticeably dirty, so I don't know if the improvement was mainly from having a clean filter again.

2 years for a filter now thats alot. MPG will be low for that and I think it world not be that good for the engine.
glaed that you got a new 1 now and liking it.
BTW if you drive alot clean your filter every 6 months that what I do to keep my car up to 100%

I've gotten used to the little more power the filter seemed to give me, but I'm getting used to it. I need more power!!

re: the charcoal filter

I can't imagine it really has much effect on the environment at all. That filter is pre-combustion. Anything that is being filtered out was already in the air to begin with.

Cause US likes to be different? Like in the use of the units, where most of the world is already using metric.

Well, technically I was wrong. The filter is designed to prevent dirty engine air from escaping backwards through the intake.
