Charcoal fillter has printed on it "Do not remove" I removed mine and found that I get free ATM service at any bank in the Continental US plus a free fill up at most gas stations....only kidding. Removed mine, not much difference, a bit better gas mileage (after 2 tanks, migh change). Another pollution control here in the States.

Is removing the charcoal filter bad for the engine as well?
No, it's bad for the environment (so they say), but who cares. By the time that happens, I will be long gone. My kids are screwed though... Oh well!

That's weird, I get free car washes by chicks in skimpy, wet, white tank tops and bikini bottoms, every week, since removing my charcoal filter as well. Gents - remove your charcoal filter ASAP and see what surprise you get!

Installed the filter this weekend. Nothing but good stuff. Better acceleration at startups and better acceleration at higher speeds. I noticed a little bit of extra engine effort when traveling at 1-5 mph (i.e., the car wanted to accelerate more on its own and it gave a little bit of a stalling sound--although I do not think that the car was even close to stalling).
Overall, I think that the car works much better with the filter.
Good mod.

I can't agree more. I've just finished installing it an hour ago, and took my car for a ride around downtown. I've noticed greater power at low rpm. My car that normally lags when I floored the pedal now launched pretty quickly . This is definitely a good quick mod. Next: Removing the charcoal filter

See you need to install it and use it to feel it.
itis money saveing and good to the world too cos you will never have to buy another air filter again for this car.
Unless you are lazy and don`t what to clean it.

I would even question how effective the filter is in terms of capturing any pollutants after 3 months of use in most urban enviroments. The small amount of charcoal or carbon in that filter will get used up rather quick.
