Sorry for my noob question.

I have read so much good about the SB on here and the M5board, yet I still don't see the benefit. From my understanding, the SB just advances the movement of the throttle pedal, thus telling the throttle butterflies to open as if the pedal was depressed xx% more than it physically is. That way, if my gas pedal is exactly 50% pressed, the SB tells the car's ECU (thus throttle plates) to open as if I were ~70% pressed. I can see why this will give the feeling of faster throttle response and more power, but it's nothing that can't be accomplished by physcially pushing the pedal further, yes?

I remember GM and Infinity had done this to some of their cars. During test drives, people felt "wow, this car is very torquey and fast." But in reality, GM made the digital proportional characteristics of the gas pedal to more like an ON/OFF switch. GM and Inifiniti eventually toned down the throttle response in subsequent years due to Car Rags and people alike complaining that it was so hard to accelerate smoothly with this setup. I'm not saying that the SB does this, but you can see the parallel.

I don't think a piggy back device can actually send signals any faster to the ECU. There is no way to "force" signals to go faster to the car's brain. It can, as I conceive it, advance the true throttle position to create a sort of band-aid fix to the drive-by-wire throttle lag.

What concerns me most is throttle modulation. Especially with DSC off, a rear wheel driven, high HP car needs a long and linear gas pedal map to properly modulate throttle.... whether it's for launching the car from a dig, throttle steer in mid corner or drifting.

I don't know if the throttle advance is mapped in a linear fashion (making the last, say ~20% of pedal travel essentially at MAX no matter at 80% or 100% to the floor) or is it progressive and tapers off to where 90% is still 90%, but 50% will be 75%.

I live in Athens-Greece (where SB comes from) and I have to say that $300 + shipping seems too much. IMO $250 shipped would be a fair price to our forum members (when ?1.00 = $1.26)
How many of you are interested in it? I can ask a vendor here if he could make an even better price, but need to know a quantity.
