AFAIK in term of compatibility Dension GW500 is the only one that will work w/ E60.

Has anyone installed the dension icelink one? I.e. The one that just connects through the aerial socket? Im another one who cant justify paying out 350 for a gateway 500 :-). If it means having to control the ipod manually i can live with that!

You are describing an FM transmitter type, they are crap in my honest opinion. If you dont want to buy the dension 500 due to the price just get the OEM one, trust me i did and it is superb. Controlling the tracks through idrive is great, the fm transmitter thing isnt that great trust me.

To me it looked on the website that it wasnt a transmitter as such. It physically connected to the aerial so track info could be displayed. Hence the talk about it not working with chryslers cos they use a non iso aerial connector. Agree on the fm transmitters tho they are cack. No aux input on my car either :-(.

Hey guys (first post, yey)!

I have a 10/2006 520d with no navigation. I'm desperately looking for some USB option. The 6FL retrofit looks quite good (ignoring the price for now ), but it seems it's only available for cars made after 03/2007, as noted in this installation manual: http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/aktion/Atta...chmentId=637554

What's the way to go if I only want the bloody USB socket? The whole ACM + ACM USB adaptor seems like shooting a bird with a cannon here Dension/mObridge also seem not easy, as I don't have a CD changer and thus no cables installed in the glovebox.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

I have to agree with Russdx, Dension Gateway 500 sounds like the way to go. Have you checked to see if you have the cabling installed for a cd changer, sometimes cars come with this from the factory you might be lucky.

The problem with the Denison or any other 3rd party retrofit is that I understand that it will invalidate any remaining warranty on your car for this area, or at worst if you do have a problem with anything to do with the iDrive system it simply gives BMW a reason to blame the 3rd party installation.

The demand for just a USB port seems very high across this forum so there must be a way to get this done with some cost effectiveness.

Out of the ?928.00 quoted for 6FL, apparently around ?400.00 is parts and the rest labour !! Does anyone of the installation instructions, or can anyone get it from ASAP system so that I can see whether it would be an installation that I could undertake myself ??

Cheers

I looked at the Denison website and downloaded the installation instructions which looked to me like it was not plug 'n' play as the power had to come from somewhere. Is this not the case? is it just a case of fitting into all existing plugs and connectors?

Does anyone have a photo shoot of the Denison install ?? (Bruce Miranda perhaps as I know you have this MOD) ??

Any help appreciated.

Cheers, Melv

Have you try our friend, the 'Search' menu on the upper right corner?
