OK, back in my old 545 w/ the iPod adaptor in the glove box, I had the issue where when you stopped the car, upon restart the iPod would resume playing at the beginning of the song you were on when shut down. This past weekend I bought a new 8 Gb iPod Touch as the old Nano (lowly 2Gb) was getting full. So I finally plug in the new Touch today after loading all my music, and what happens but the same bug. The song starts at the beginning of the song that was playing when I stopped! Not the biggest issue in the world but annoying none the less. Anyone else have this issue? Is it a BMW software issue or maybe the iPod needs updating, though I thought it did the first time I logged in to iTunes.

There is a setting in iTunes that will force the iPod to start where you leave off. It's a right mouse on the track setting and can be applied globally.

Warning: this can be annoying if you are not in the car as songs will start in the middle.

Oh yeah, well my daddy is bigger than your daddy!! Look, it took me two years to fill up the 2 Gb Nano! 8 Gb will last me well beyond when Apple comes out with some new generation device. Heck, the Touch was a splurge, I really only needed another Nano...

J, where exactly is this setting? Having trouble finding the "track setting" you spoke of.

OK, following both your and Jspira's suggestion, I spent extensive time exploring iTunes and can find no option anywhere that remotely resembles "resuming songs where you left off"! The Nano I pulled out this morning work just fine without any sort of setting to continue playing where stopped. As I said, the Nano had this issue in my old 545 but worked fine with the 550. Go figure...

Bump...

Anybody know of the setting the JSpira and Buddy mention concerning the re-starting of the song at the beginning? As I recall, this was a known issue with the software when I had the iPod adaptor installed on my old 545. These guys now insist there is a setting somewhere in iTunes to fix this, but I am unable to find it. Likely my age!

OK, last try. I'll assume that no one actually knows this setting in iTunes and that I'll have to live with the software bug until it is fixed and I can somehow manage to get an update out of my dealer...
