You should be able to install the CD Changer yourself but you'll still need to have the dealer turn on the option in the software.
Ok thank for your reply . I need to make an update of the software .

Took my new car in for installation of the ipod/MOST interface kit today and the dealer had some problems.

Upgraded Progman to latest verison available to them (22.0.2). Hardwired the new ipod interface. Added it via retrofit, software retrofit printed out that the update was successfull. ipod does not show up on the iDrive Entertainment menu as an option.

Tried again using a 6 CD changer. Worked fine and showed up on iDrive screen and played through the L7 no problem. Plugged the ipod interface in and once again, nothing shows up in iDrive but the ipod lights up with the BMW symbol on the ipod screen.

Production date of the vehicle is one month newer of the cutoff so firmware shold not be an issue.

Any other forum members who have had the install who may be able to provide a suggestion?
Bump!

Ademitt - did you ever get this resolved? My experience is pretty much identical, except my Progman is 23.

Just a thought - I think my Ipod is a first generation rather than a second generation. Could this be the problem? I thought I read that all Nano's are compatible??

First and second generation iPods won't work. Nano's however will work. Nano's are not considered first or second generation iPods. I have used both a 4th generation 40GB iPod and a 2GB (original) Nano in the new MOST iPod interface and they both work.

Correct. I learned this the hard way. Had the iPod adapter installed last week. Plugged in my 2d Gen iPod at the dealer and it did not work. The service department double checked the install with the SA's iPod and it worked perfectly. They suggested I try and update my iPod's software. After about an hour screwing around at the Apple web site I determined that there is no updated software for my 40gb iPod. Off to Best Buy for a new Nano, which works perfectly. My daughter's new regular iPod (whatever generation that is) also works perfectly.

Turned out to be a pretty expensive toy for me. :'(

Anybody want to buy a 6 CD changer??

Yes, once progman 23 was installed it worked fine with my ipod. I tried a second generation ipod as well and it did not work. Menus were all greyed out and not accessible.

Imola - who around here did your IPOD interface? I'm having BMW of Arlington do it next week.
