Took my new car in for installation of the ipod/MOST interface kit today and the dealer had some problems.
Upgraded Progman to latest verison available to them (22.0.2). Hardwired the new ipod interface. Added it via retrofit, software retrofit printed out that the update was successfull. ipod does not show up on the iDrive Entertainment menu as an option.
Tried again using a 6 CD changer. Worked fine and showed up on iDrive screen and played through the L7 no problem. Plugged the ipod interface in and once again, nothing shows up in iDrive but the ipod lights up with the BMW symbol on the ipod screen.
Production date of the vehicle is one month newer of the cutoff so firmware shold not be an issue.
Any other forum members who have had the install who may be able to provide a suggestion?

The Ipod Connector WILL NOT show IPOD on the iDrive screen. You will have to use the Idrive through the CD changer disc selectors where DISC 1 has all your playlist DISC 2 Artists etc. If the unit is not showing the CD Changer mode when connecting the ipod cd changer emulator then thats a different situation and I am not sure who can really answer that.

When the ipod interface is plugged in, there is no option for the 6 CD Changer, only the in dash player.

hmm have you asked the dealer to plug in a different unit than the one they tried to install with? Maybe that specific unit is busted.
By the way I read somewhere in this forum and do correct me if I am wrong, Canada spec vehicls need to replace the head units as they are different from US head units and sometimes need to be replaced in order to get the new adapter to be played.

Not quite right, pre 03/05 builds require firmware updating in the head unit for the interface to work. My car has the updated head unit and is beyond the range of affected models.

I have a copy of the Vehicle Build Sheet.
It states option 677 "HIFI System Professional" is installed along with option 694 "preparation for CD Changer".
I'm quite certain the head unit is compatible.

Maybe the interface wires aren't plugged in correctly. When I had my AUX input installed everything said it was successful, but I didn't get any sound out of it when I had my ipod plugged in. I took it back and one of the wires was out of place, once they put it back in place everything worked fine. I know you're not talking about the AUX input, but maybe something similar is happening.
