I have a 08 535i with AUX input (but without the USB port). If I have an iPod and get an AUX cord to connect, will the music info be displayed on the cars display? I assume there are good chargers as well so I can just leave the iPod in the car and do not have to worry about taking out every so often to charge?

I dont think AUX input can display music info on the iDrive. If you have iPod adapter, then its different story. Thats what I have and I get the music info on iDrive screen.

Cannot display video thru the idrive screen with this option, but there a few threads regarding mods to do so...run a search on that one...

As far as price goes, depends on the year of your e60, some members have gone the retrofit route, numerous threads on that as well, best would be to search also under "ipod retrofit"

Allows you to control your ipod via the iDrive. aka 6fl plug/cord. With this option you are able to control your ipod via iDrive as well as charge your ipod.

The "cord" goes from the iPod to what? I assumed the AUX input behind the center console, but is that not correct?

That cord is the usb/6fl option. There is a plug or space for a plug in your center console shelf for it. The Aux input cord, I don't know where that plug is or can be. I'm sure other members will chime in....

AUX input is only able to take audio signal in, not any information like song titles etc.
For that usb/6fl cable you have to have USB port in your car to use it.
