Come on guys, we all know the AFE got a proven bad wrap. Here is the thread on the AFE after dyno tests on a 550i:

I agree you can do the AFE if you want the sound enhancement+loss in power+higher costs. Buy it if this is your goal, otherwise the RPI scoops are a viable option.

Did we all forget the AFE refund thread too?

Check the stock air box to make sure that it's tight. It shouldn't be making the same sound as the AFE.

I would do RPI Scoop which we do have one in stock for your vehicle.

NO ON AFE even on the 535i/335i intakes. I don't care what people say if they dyno'd it or whatever. I raced my cousins 335i coupe 6 spd with AFE intake, AFE scoops, AND JB2 against my LOANER 335i AUTO 4 DOOR and I was DEAD even with him. AFE is a JOKE!

AND I'm still waiting for the stupid refunds!
damn no refunds yet!!!

Scoops it is!

Should I get a different filter in addition to this or will they work with the stock air box how it is?

You can go with the BMC filter combo which will work the best. The stock air filter will work as well I have them in stock.

Gene,
That isn't any difference than the AFE. It's a Hot Air Intake that throws a CEL.

***will the e90 335i set-up fit the e60 535i as well (since both are n54 engines)? Or is there an rpi intake for the 535i? Didn't see one on the rpi website..
