It depends on what you're looking for. There's no perfect solution for every preference.

aFe solution is better if you like a more aggressive intake sound + a loss in power + higher cost. RPi solution is better if you like more power + no change in intake sound + lower cost.

We have the aFe Intake on our E92 335i and are very happy with the result. They seem to have gotten it right with the N54 engine so you can't go wrong with that setup IMO.

+1 with nobleforums. AFE intake for the e60 has proven loss in power due to hot air from the engine. btw, PM replied

I would do RPI Scoop which we do have one in stock for your vehicle.

NO ON AFE even on the 535i/335i intakes. I don't care what people say if they dyno'd it or whatever. I raced my cousins 335i coupe 6 spd with AFE intake, AFE scoops, AND JB2 against my LOANER 335i AUTO 4 DOOR and I was DEAD even with him. AFE is a JOKE!

AND I'm still waiting for the stupid refunds!

I still have my AFE, I love the sound it makes with my Quads.

Thinking about adding a RPI scoop, what do you think Joe?

That would help the AFE right??

If you don't mind losing power, then get the AFE. If you want to increase the performance, go with RPI. The answer seems pretty simple to me.
