It's only 8" sub. I replaced mine with Earthquake shallow sub SWS-8 (105W RMS, 300W max). It sounds fantastic and it can rattle the license plate like the punk.
What model is it?
Is it easy to install?

by adding a port (bass reflex, ported) you can open up the low end response, use less power, have less distortion, and increase the output by 3-4db...the rolloff of these can be tuned to -3db @ 30hz, respectively given your box size
When you add a port to a woofer enclosure, the woofer is allowed to travel more freely.... with less resistance from air pressure. This results in louder bass with lower wattage, but also creates MORE distortion and poorer frequency response.
In order of sound quality, from best to worst... it looks like this:
1. Aperiodic Membrane
2. Sealed
3. Ported
4. Bandpass
The E60 is a prime candidate for an aperiodic enclosure. The trunk space is very well sealed off from the passsenger cabin. You could build an aperiodic enclosure with the woofer facing towards the front of the car, and the membrane venting into the trunkspace. That is what I would do, at least. I am a stickler for sound quality.

thanks. do you have logic7 and are u planning to do some audio mods to your car?
It is a shame the 523i comes with only 6 speakers as a std equipment in Taiwan(thanks to the local dealer    )
My wish list: MB Quart speakers to replace all factory speakers with a new amp + JL W7 12' in the trunk....
any suggestion?

Does anyone know what wires come from the head unit to the sub amp? Color and what not? I would rather use the RCA level then use a speaker level converter. My amp has a built in crossover so even if the head unit is sending full range sound my amp will cut it out and i can adjust it.
Thanks for any and all help
