Hold up. So you didn't test out what ETnav suggested 6 months ago? To put your old mirrors back and see if you get functionality?
Obviously this should have been your starting point. Would tell you right away whether or not you just coincidentally have two broken modules from both mirrors.

btw, I never got to try the old ones again because I am not that handy and don't have much time either. Guess I was hoping it was a connection problem or something that could be figured out by the dealer. Guess I was wrong.

looking at the pics I uploaded before, it seems like the old mirrors have 4 wires and the m5 ones have 5 wires, but the connector is the same. (there's a yellow wire that the m5 ones have but the old, non m ones, don't)
edit: it seems like the old ones have 5 wires but the black one merge with a brown one so at the plug there are only 4. I find it weird as those are the original mirrors

Ah that sucks. It doesn't take more than an hour to change the mirrors with simple tools to be honest. Really should just do that if it's an option. It'll basically let you know if what you have is defective.

Your old mirror have a 4 pin connector, and the M5 mirrors should have a 3 pin connector. Could you take a picture if the connector on the M5 mirrors? I find it hard to believe that they have 4 or 5 wires, and it that case they could be designed for cars build before 2006.

There are no M5 mirrors with 4 or 5 wires. It's either 3 wires in one plug or many wires in 2 or 3 plugs. What is slightly confusing is that the 3 wires in the m5 mirror may actually terminate in a plug with 4 spaces, fooling you to think that it can slot into your old 4 pin socket when you removed the old mirrors.
I've done so many conversions from any year car to any m5 mirror set.

As the m5 mirrors are already on the car, I've been looking at pics so I think I made a mistake and the m5 mirrors have 3 wires. What should I do to make em work, given that the regulat ones have 4 wires into a single plug?

well, that's a good start. It's my understanding that the rewiring at the KGM module is only necessary for pre lci cars and mine is lci. just wanted to make sure. can you provide more information on the work that has to be done so I can put it in practice? thanks bro
