+1 to my understanding coding is *only* needed for the mirrors to autofold with the keyfob.

well, brought the mirror to the stealer and he told me they tried to do everything but it won't work. I don't understand as the plugs are the same but they aren't working even though the mirrors were bought from different places, one new and one used. Can anyone point me in a direction as to find what can be wrong?

Did your old mirrors have 3 or 4 leads going into them?

this is one of my old mirrors, the dealer tells me that they tried and the m5 ones won't work at all (I can't even move the glass from the interior of the car)which I don't understand as I bought em from different sources and everyone tells me that the standard functions are plug and play

They are not plug & play if your old mirrors are missing the LED lights or the auto dip/folding function.

Wow the dealership couldn't figure this issue out or yet tell you why it's not working?

I don't know if my original mirrors have leds, and my car didn't have auto fold. but you could tilt the mirror from the cabin and now I can't even do that, the m5 mirrors are dead. I am guessing the dealer has been lazy or inexpert but they haven't figure it out. I am thinking of bringing the old ones to see if they work to figure out if maybe there's a module broken or something

Does the mirrors light up the ground when you're unlocking the car? Then you have LEDs (you could also just take a look underneath your mirrors and compare them to the M5 mirrors, as all M5 mirrors have the LEDs). If not, you need to change som wiring.
