Hi All

I am suffering a problem of the replica M5 mirror. My car is 2006 530i, as you all knows that my OEM wiring (post 09/05) is 3 wires with one connector, but the mirror I bought is a 8 wires 2 connectors (4 wires in one connector). I already have the mirror painted, but my mechanic was telling me that the wire and connector won't fit. Therefore, I need help from you guys, is there any possibilities to convert this 8 wires motor into 3 wires? or can I disassemble the old motor and put it on the new mirror?

My 530i has autofold, heater, auto dimming, and memory functions.

Please HELP!!

The only thing that I cna think of is to switch teh ECU from your old mirror into your new mirror. See this diy:

Sorry for the non topic related question, but where did you get this replica M5 mirrors. Also, does it have autofold? What are the options available?

I got it from www.car-gym.com, they've got this replica M5 mirror, about 85% like the OEM, it looks very nice after paint.

rsyed, thanks for your reply. I've found your DIY.pdf in this forum before, but one thing I want to be sure before I start the DIY. when you take away the lens, do you take away from this side (see the picture). Or the other side? Because it's so tight. The lens of my normal 5 series mirror is very easy to take it down. but the replica one is so difficult.

This replica M5 mirror has autofold, memory, and anti glare function, and power heat. I've attached some pictures of this replica mirror with the wires, do you think this project is doable? or Mission impossible? Thanks man.

The way you are doing it is right!

I am not sure whether it is doable - it all depends if the ECU is the same. Looking at the wires, i think these replica mirrors use the original ECU with the original cables. If that is the case, it should be doable! Give it a try, open it up and before you cut any wires, you know whether the ECUs are the same..

good luck!!

ps. how much did you pay for the replicas?

those look like they are E39 style M5 mirrors, they look quite different from the E60 M5s.

They are only 85% like the OEM M5 mirrors, but I think it looks different than the E39, E39's M mirror is more round, don't you think so?

I think he is actually right, they do look more like the E60 M5 mirrors.

The E39 mirrors are a lot more rounded.
