Hi all,
Can someone please explain me why this section of the headlamp doesnt switch on on my car? both left and right hand side, the inner lamps dont switch on, but i can see a bulb inside.
-- Is it something to do with additional package?
-- Can i hotwire it with the main beam to make it work? (i.e switch on whenever the main beams are switched on?)

All i know is that my car has autolevelling headlamps, but i dont think i have the "adaptive headlamps"
EDIT: Sorry i forgot to mention - its a 2008 LCI 520D
Thanks.

@unknown: do u mean the high beam mode? or the Dipper mode? tried all that, only the outer lamps go high and low, but not the inner ones.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Insane Devil, what year is your car?
If I'm guessing correctly, the lights you're talking about are used for "flash to pass" only so you need to pull the turn signal stalk towards you to get them to illuminate...

Rudy, Sorry i had forgotten to add the make of the vehicle, have done now. 2008 LCI 520D
About pulling back the turn lever, i am 99% sure that doesnt do the job, but coz you and 'unknown' both say that, let me just look at it again and get back tomorrow.
In the mean time, guys, please let me know if its something else that makes that work.
thanks!

You are absolutely right! I have a 2008 525 and the inner bulbs are pretty much out of the picture! Apart from the rings, they dont do anything else!
The high beams are encorporated into the outer lights, whereby in the previous models ( pre LCI ) the inner bulbs were the high beams!
I need to know as well!

Wow!
I could have sweared that the inner lamps are the high beams in every E60.
I have a pre-LCI car and they sure are the high beams. That sounds so ridiculous that those bulbs would be there just for flashing when passing...

I have the same LCI light as you are & that inner light is NOT doing anything.
The bulb you see thru it is basically the H8 bulb for the AE ring, the kind of headlight we have is non-AHL (non-Adaptive).
On an Adaptive car the inner light will have a frosted lens and in use for cornering light and it has a separate H3 bulb.
