Has anyone had a go at reconfiguring the default display on the iDrive screen? I am fed up looking at the same old display and would much rather have something useful like an analogue clock (like the Lexus) or instrument gauges. I have read that it is written in Java and uses windows CE automotive, has anyone tried to modify it or does anyone know how to at least interface with it?

I would like to have this option too.

But AFAIK nobody has yet hacked the idrive system succesfully without causing trouble and malfunctions.

Do you know how they interfaced with the display? Is it done via the management system?

Early on I emailed BMWNA, that it would be nice to be able to configure the powerup screen. For example, 99% of the time, I switch directly to the Entertainment page. Why do I have to go through three mouse functions everytime I fire up the car?

I think we should blitz BMWNA with the request to be able to configure the Idrive for the default powerup screen.
